NERIST NEE is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh - a centrally funded institute under the Government of India. The exam is conducted at three levels (NEE-I, NEE-II and NEE-III) for admission to certificate, diploma and degree-level engineering and technology programmes respectively. NEE-III is the B.Tech entrance and is the most relevant for Class 12 aspirants. Applicants come primarily from the eight northeastern states, with limited seat intake and government-institute admission norms. The exam focuses on Class 11 and 12 syllabus coverage and conceptual understanding rather than advanced problem-solving.

❓ FAQs
What is the difference between NEE-I, NEE-II and NEE-III?
NEE-I is for admission to certificate (technician) programmes after Class 10, NEE-II is for diploma programmes after Class 12, and NEE-III is direct entry to B.Tech programmes after Class 12 - most relevant for engineering aspirants.
Is NERIST NEE conducted online or offline?
It is conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) OMR mode. Candidates appear at allocated centres across India.
Which institute accepts NERIST NEE scores?
Only NERIST, Nirjuli (Arunachal Pradesh). NEE scores are not accepted elsewhere.
Is there a state-wise reservation?
Yes. NERIST reserves a significant share of seats for candidates domiciled in the eight northeastern states (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura). Remaining seats are open to all-India candidates.
Is NERIST a good option compared to JEE Main colleges?
NERIST is a centrally funded institute with low fees and decent placements in the northeast. It's a strong backup or primary option for students from the region; outside the northeast, NIT/IIIT options via JEE Main are usually preferred.
