MCC NEET UG Counselling (Medical Counselling Committee - DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi)

Exam Date
TBD
Duration

Overview

MCC (Medical Counselling Committee), under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, conducts India's centralised counselling for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in every state government medical/dental college, plus 100% of seats in central institutions, deemed/private universities that opt in, ESIC colleges and AFMC Pune, based purely on the NEET UG score. There is no separate examination - allotment depends entirely on NEET rank, category and the choices a candidate locks in. At the AIQ/central level, reservation follows the Government of India's standard categories: 10% EWS, 27% OBC-NCL, 15% SC, 7.5% ST, and a 5% horizontal reservation for persons with disabilities.

💡 Preparation Tips

  • Research colleges, fees and bond conditions before locking choices - AIQ spans everything from AIIMS-level central institutions to state colleges' 15% quota seats
  • Fill as many genuine preferences as possible in priority order rather than a short list
  • Keep the standard document checklist ready - NEET UG admit card and scorecard, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, domicile/residence certificate, category certificate (if applicable), passport-size photos, and valid ID proof - keep both originals and photocopies ready for verification.
  • Track each round's cut-off trends across previous years to make realistic choices

❓ FAQs

Is there an exam for MCC counselling?
No - MCC counselling uses your NEET UG rank only; there is no separate test.
What is the difference between AIQ and state counselling?
MCC handles the 15% All India Quota in every state college plus 100% of central/deemed/ESIC/AFMC seats. The remaining 85% state-quota seats in each state's own colleges are filled by that state's counselling authority.
What are the AIQ reservation categories?
The standard Government of India categories apply: 10% EWS, 27% OBC-NCL, 15% SC, 7.5% ST, and a 5% horizontal reservation for persons with disabilities (PwD).
Do I need to register separately for state counselling too?
Yes - MCC AIQ registration and your home state's counselling registration are entirely separate processes with separate portals, fees and choice-filling.
