IISER (Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research) Aptitude Test selects students for the 5-year BS-MS Dual Degree at 7 IISER campuses (Pune, Mohali, Kolkata, Bhopal, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Berhampur). Students can major in Mathematics after foundational years. IISER is dedicated to research-oriented science education.

Why IISER over IIT for Maths?
IISER is research-pure - students do dissertation in year 5. IIT Maths programmes have engineering exposure. For PhD-track careers, IISER is preferred; for industry/finance, IIT may be more recognised.
Which IISER is best for Maths?
IISER Pune has strongest pure Mathematics faculty. IISER Mohali, Kolkata, Bhopal also have strong Math departments.
