AEEE (Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination) is a national-level computer-based entrance test conducted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham for admission to B.Tech programmes across its Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Amritapuri and Chennai campuses. It is an institute-specific exam managed entirely by Amrita University with merit-based selection, and is moderate in scale compared to JEE Main but highly competitive due to limited seat intake. Candidates may appear in multiple phases within a year to improve their score, and final ranks are based solely on AEEE performance with no board exam weightage.

AEEE is conducted in two phases each year - Phase 1 in January/February and Phase 2 in April. Candidates can appear in more than one phase, and the best score is considered for ranking.
Is there negative marking in AEEE?
Yes. Each correct answer carries +3 marks and each incorrect answer carries -1 mark. Accuracy is rewarded and careless guessing is penalised.
Which colleges accept AEEE scores?
AEEE scores are accepted only at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham campuses - Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Amritapuri and Chennai.
How is admission decided after AEEE?
Admission is purely rank-based through centralised online counselling by Amrita. Branch and campus allocation depends on rank, choice filling and seat availability across multiple counselling rounds.
Is AEEE harder than JEE Main?
AEEE is generally considered moderate in difficulty - less demanding than JEE Advanced and roughly on par with or slightly easier than JEE Main. It emphasises strong fundamentals, speed and accuracy rather than extreme problem-solving depth.
