National Institute of Technology Silchar

NIT (National Institute of Technology) Silchar, established 1967 as REC Silchar and upgraded to NIT in 2002, is Assam's NIT (one of two in NE India along with NIT AP). Located on a 625-acre fully-residential campus in Silchar, NIT Silchar offers strong CS placements (~11 LPA avg) and is a key technical institution for Northeast India.

Among the original 17 RECs. Among the few NITs in Northeast India. Silchar is the second-largest city in Barak Valley, Assam.
