IIEST (Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology) Shibpur, formerly known as Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU) and before that BE College (founded 1856), is one of India's oldest and most prestigious engineering institutions. Located on a 220-acre campus in Howrah, West Bengal, IIEST converted to a centrally-funded Institute of National Importance in 2014. Strong CS placements (~14 LPA avg) with deep heritage in civil and mechanical engineering.
